SUMMARY:Embracing Your Grief with Crystal Energy and  Vibrational Sound Healing
DESCRIPTION:Grief can leave our body and emotions dysregulated. Come explore two healing techniques which can help process the pain of grief and calm us–crystal energy and vibrational sound healing. We will have a presentation by Lora Windsor\, LCSW on the healing powers of crystals and create a crystal bracelet of your own. Later we will relax with a sound healing meditation provided by certified vibrational sound practitioner\, Sandy LaBianco-Brown. During the guided meditation singing bowls will be used to promote relaxation. Singing bowls are metal or crystal and when hit with a mallet provide sustained sounds or vibrations.  \nDuring the event event snacks and materials for the bracelet activity will be provided. We would encourage anyone during the sound meditation to bring a yoga mat or item of comfort. Chairs will be available for those who wish to participate in an upright position.  \nSpecial thank you to J&R Herra Home Services for donating their beautiful space. We also deeply appreciate Lora and Sandy sharing their time and expertise.

In this event’s inaugural year\, the run will be a heartfelt event dedicated to honoring the memory of local inspiration\, Lisa Campise. Lisa was a resident of the Sugar Grove Community and worked as a social worker assisting students who attended Kaneland School District. Outside her professional career she also supported the youth and families in need in our community in many ways. The race will start at Harter Middle School and run along the newly dedicated “Honorary Lisa Campise Way” aka Esker Drive. The event aims to bring the community together; promoting health\, wellness\, and unity. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or looking to enjoy a leisurely walk\, this event offers something for everyone. \nTo encourage participants to support a local charitable program that Lisa was passionate about\, the Sugar Grove Park District  has set the 5K participant fees at cost. SUMMARY:Good Grief Day Camp 2024
DESCRIPTION:Good Grief Day Camp is a one-week\, non-residence camp designed specifically for children ages 6-12 who have lost a parent or sibling to death. The camp uses the healing elements of music\, theater\, art and nature to help children on their unique grief journey. It also provides these children the opportunity to spend time with others who have experienced similar losses\, helping them understand that they are not alone in their grief. \nAt Good Grief Day Camp\, our goal is to help children begin the healing process by meeting them wherever they are in their feelings\, offering understanding\, and helping them express their grief experience and feelings.  Registration is limited to 20 children and only to those who have lost a parent or sibling to death. The camp is held each year at Farm Friends/ The McCannon Farm during the last week of June. The cost is $50 per camper/$100 per family. Scholarships are available. \nThis year’s Good Grief Day Camp runs from Monday\, June 24th through Friday\, June 28th\, 9am – 12pm. Contact Jennifer Long at (630) 365-2880 to register.

SUMMARY:Healing Your Grief: Nature Mandala & Sound Healing Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Join Conley Outreach Community Services at Elburn Lions Park for this free community event focusing on healing your grief through intention and mindfulness. During our time together participants will create their own grief nature mandala and end the session with a relaxing sound healing meditation.  \nMandala is a Sanskrit word that means circle. It is a symbolic representation of the universe\, often used in Hinduism\, Buddhism\, and other cultures as a spiritual and artistic tool. Lora Windsor\, LCSW and Grief Facilitator will provide step by step instruction while participants create their own mandala with items found in nature. The practice will focus on loss and provide tools to integrate grief into our daily intentions to promote healing. Later we will relax with a sound healing meditation provided by Sandy LaBianco-Brown. Sandy is a certified vibrational sound practitioner\, Hypnotherapist\, and Reiki Master Teacher. She currently provides Reiki and Vibrational Sound Therapy at Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center. During this guided meditation singing bowls will be used to promote deeper relaxation. Singing bowls are metal or crystal and when hit with a mallet provide sustained sounds or vibrations.  \nDuring the event snacks and materials for the mandalas will be provided. We encourage anyone who would like to recline during the sound meditation to bring a yoga mat or an item of comfort. Chairs are available for those who would like to participate in an upright position.  \nSpecial thank you to the Elburn Lions Club for donating their space for the event.
