Good Grief Day Camp is a one-week, non-residence camp designed specifically for children ages 9-13 years of age who have lost a parent or sibling to death. The camp uses the healing elements of equine therapy, drama, art and mindfulness activities to help children on their unique grief journey. It also provides these children the opportunity to spend time with others who have experienced similar losses, helping them understand that they are not alone in their grief.
At Good Grief Day Camp, our goal is to help children begin the healing process by meeting them wherever they are in their feelings, offering understanding, and helping them express their grief experience and feelings. Registration is limited to 15 children and only to those who have lost a parent or sibling to death. Beginning in 2026, Camp will be held at Stable Minds Facility in Elburn the last week in June. Staff will consist of vetted community volunteers and Clinicians from Anchor Counseling’s Stable Minds. Camp is kept low cost and scholarships are available for financial need with a referral from a school social worker or community organization.
